flabbergast - (v.): to be extremely surprised or shocked
  • Synonyms: stun, amaze, surprise, overwhelm
  • Antonyms: expect
  • Origin: 1772, mentioned (with the word bored) in a magazine article as a new "hip" word, probably a modified form of flabby or flapper and aghast.
  • Example: Bradley Chalkers was flabbergasted when the new student tried to make friends with him at recess.

Have you ever been flabbergasted by something another student has done?
Tell us about it!

I've been flabbergasted by a students precise and efficient drawings because some of them are so keenly standard.
