obtain - (v.)
to get something that you want, especially through your own effort, skill, or work
  • Synonyms: get, achieve, gather, earn
  • Antonyms: lose, sacrifice, give up
  • Origin: 1425 from Latin, obtinere "hold, take hold of, acquire," from ob- meaning "to" + tenere meaning "to hold"
  • Example: If you want to go on next week’s canoing field trip at the ACEC, it is imperative that you obtain your parents’ permission.
Thanks to Mrs. Gray, I was able to obtain a very cool new software called Jing to make this video.
I wanted to show you how to obtain images off of the Internet to use in a document!
Now that you have seen how to do it, try to obtain an image of a monkey from the Internet. When you get one, insert it into a document and describe that monkey as if it is one of the monkeys Jay Berry is trying to capture. Print it out when you are finished - be sure to include your name! - then bring it to me so you can obtain your prize!
